Torcross
 
Only 30m from the front door lies a 3 mile stretch of unspoilt, lovely pebble beach.  Have a picnic, take a stroll, skim some stones or hunt for the most attractive pebble
 
The clean azure waters of Start Bay are perfect for swimming, fishing, sailing or simply gazing at
 
The world famous South West Coast Path is the longest national trail in the UK and passes right through the village.  The South Devon coastline is undoutedly some of the finest in Britain and there are fantastic walks to be enjoyed
 
Slapton Ley Nature Reserve is the largest natural freshwater lake in South West England and is a haven for wildlife.  It is separated from the sea by a narrow bank of shingle, and is home to many species of birds and wildlife.  Some superb bird watching and nature walks are on offer
 
Take a history lesson; head to the memorial tank to learn of the fascinating history and signifance of the area from WW2
 
The fish n chips from the Start Bay Inn are infamously good, even better when you can sit on the beach with them
 
 
Avon Estuary
 
Hire a kayak and gently paddle down the Avon River, fantastic for wildlife
 
Go for a surf, kitesurf or a walk at Bantham Beach, a sublime, expansive beach
 
Catch a sea tractor from Bigbury to Burgh Island; the beer and location of the cosy Pilchard Inn makes the trip well worth it
 

Salcombe Estuary
 
Wander through the narrow streets of beautiful Salcombe, situated on the banks of one of the finest estuaries in Britain
 
Take one of the small ferries to the golden beaches nearby; East Portlemouth, North Sands or South Sands
 
Catch your own dinner on one of the fishing charter boats
 
Take some dingy sailing lessons - the setting and conditions are perfect for it
 

Dart Estuary
 
Visit the historic naval town of Dartmouth
 
Take a boat trip on the River Dart; visit Agatha Christie's House, picturesque villages and marvel at the wooded slopes that hug its banks
 
Sip wine and take a tour of the award winning Sharpham Vineyard

Secret Spots
 
Head for the lighthouse at Start Point then walk the coast path round to a secluded pristine beach, Mattiscombe Sands – perfect for a picnic and seal spotting
 
Nestled in the heart of Slapton Village is the Tower Inn.   Hidden within the lanes of close-nit houses is a fantastic pub and magical location for a delicious meal
 
Not so secret, but idyllic none the less, Blackpool Sands is your picture-perfect beach cove
 
For a pub with character and good ale, take a trip to the Pigs Nose at East Prawle; renowned for its live music on Saturday nights!
